Assistant Prosecuting Attorney discusses Blue Sunday for churches to remember those children who are abused and churches trying to prevent abuse. He discusses tendency of churches to ignore this and suggests that GRACE (Godly Response to Abuse in the Christian Environment) is an excellent program that churches should adopt.

The after hour Madri Gras event was hosted at the new location of Omni Associates as of Nov. 15, 2018. It is located on original land settled at Middletown, WV and then to Fairmont, built by 8th governor of WV, Aretas Brooks Fleming in 1890. It would later be the American Legion for years until CJ Maggies turned it into a restaurant, only to have them resell it a few years later to Omni Associates.

George Levitsky, General Manager of the Fairmont Marion County Transit Authority, takes me on the Edgemont Loop and discusses the importance of the levy to the Transit Authority, which last year transported over 206,000 passengers and travelled almost 700,000 miles.

Lloyd White discussed health needs and rise in flu cases Lauren Prinzo with the WVU Extension Office in Marion County who thanked the commissioners for their support of the annual county-wide eighth grade field trip day, Bright Futures for Marion County Students, and Tim Mitchem with B.A.S.S. Nation of West Virginia who introduced the new president of the nonprofit organization, Ken Hackworth, and thanked the commissioners for their support of their successful event at Palatine Park. Debby Harvey, director of the Marion County Senior Citizens, addressed the commissioners in hopes of their help along with the community in purchasing a new "hot cold" truck.

Discussion on litter & regional jail cost highlighted the meeting. VanGilder said March's bill was $186,250. Tony Golden, litter control officer for the MCSWA, gave a report on clean up. Lowest bid for a new bathroom at Palatine Park near the handicap-accessible fishing pier approved, heard from Eva Bito and WVU Extension Services' Master Gardener Program, listened to Representatives of West Virginia Women for Cannabis invitation to attend an anti-opioid rally on April 21 at Palatine Park from 2-5 pm for alternatives speeches to opioid addiction, testimonials and entertainment.

Proclamation signed declaring April 25 as Stand Against Racism Day in Marion County by the YWCA while declaring the week of April 30-May 6 as Small Business Week. Resolution signed to join the West Virginia Opioid Lawsuit declaring that opioid use is a public nuisance in Marion County.

City approved demolition of a dilapidated structure at 212 Robinson St. to be sold to NCWVCA; voted to close the City's Police, Fire Pension & Relief Fund to police officers and firefighters before Jan. 1, 2018, and place all such firefighters & officers after that date into the West Virginia Police Officers and Firefighters Retirement System, and set a public hearing to be held at the April 24 council meeting concerning an ordinance that amends and supplements a section of Ordinance No. 1738 to provide for a $5,000 increase in the city manager's base pay. Dora Grubb mentioned Fairmont's 200th birthday.
