07:00     Finding Effective Care Treatment
Recovery Month shows those with mental and substance use disorders can lead healthy and productive lives, including programs targeting families, faith-based solutions, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and others. Panelists also address the barriers to quality care, treatment of co-occurring disorders, and the role counselors can play. The show highlights recovery as an ongoing process best served by perseverance, open-mindedness and resiliency.

Work session is on opioid discussion & Proposed Drug House Ordinance. Video shoes most of the slides that deals with the discussion - Stats given by Police Chief Shine. Martinsburg Ordinance forms Fairmont's proposal. Council Members questioned landlord/tenant responsibilities, legal applications, & abatement implications. Later, a hum came in the PA system. The Plan is to offer this on June 26 as an introduction for a public hearing to a final vote in August 29.

09:17     Father Leo Lydon 50th Anniversary: 09:30
Father Leo Lyden died May 27, 2018 after a distinguished career of 68 years in ministry. This video, recorded May 10, 2000, highlights a few comments on his golden anniversary of retirement.

09:30     Caleb Wilson on Wind Turbines

23 ministers share thoughts on ministry in these April and May interviews upon their retirement. The two questions they respond to are, "What influences did you have in ministry and what advice would you give to those entering Christian service?" 10:15     Dr. Francene Kirk, Former Abelina Suarez Professor of Communication and Fine Arts, Fairmont State     06/05/18
Dr. Kirk discusses her presentation "9 Before IX", an "informance," based upon many interviews conducted with women before Title IV was issued and the courageous roles they played. These interviews were written into a monologue "Women's Voices: Memory in Motion," evening of stories on love, injustice, tenacity & survival, presented by students in Sept. 2016. Later this was made into a play presented at Fairmont State entitled, "Voices Realigned, Rewind, Revisit and Remember." She further discusses the impact and significance of these monologues. And then she relates this to her life, family, and evolution as a student, teacher, wife, and professor.

10:38     Friday Night: 05/25/18
Highlights include a couple of songs from Cain and the Abels; scenes from the Pepperoni Roll Making Contest,& crowd views of Three Rivers Festival.

10:50     Project Graduation: 05/24/18
Highlights include scenes of students, games and activities during Project Graduation, 2018. Interviews are done with Connie VanGilder, organizer; David Nuzum, East Fairmont High School principal; and Amber Lokelani Rose Eakin, daughter of former head food service coordinator Lori Eakin, who passed away in Feb. 2018.

10:59     Car Show: 05/25/18
The Jerry Ragen Car Show highlights from the Baptist Temple features a slow drive through the rows displaying antique and vintage cars and trucks. Brief conversations occur with Jack Oliver and his car; J.T. LaFollette on his 3 Mack Trucks, and Brad Merrifield on placing of flags in Fairmont.

Cousin of Emmett Till whose murder in Mississippi in 1954 sparked the Civil Rights Protest came to Fairmont the first week of May to view the play performed by students of North Marion High School. He is interviewed on those events as well as speaking to those gathered in the courtroom of Marion County courthouse.

12:00     Life and History of A. James Manchin
First shown in April 2012, the Civil and Human Rights efforts of A. James Manchin are portrayed. Three areas of accomplishments are shown: His 1949 Legislation, campaigning for John F. Kennedy in 1960, and State Director of the Farmers Home Administration. Comments from family, co-workers, and recipients of his efforts are offered. Included among the interviews are wife Stella and son Mark; nephews U.S. Senator Joe Manchin III and Delegate Tim Manchin; delegate Mike Caputo; co-worker Ned Poe with FHA; and former Farmington resident "Moonie" Suggs and present Rachel resident Betty Napalo. A culmination of Pictures, videos and oral history from the WV Cultural and History Center, the Farmers Home Administration, the John Kennedy and Harry Truman Presidential Library, as well as the Manchin family and Emily McDowell are presented.

Highlights of the 2017 National Recovery Month is shown in preparation of the 2018 event, which theme is "Join the Voices for Recovery: Invest in Health, Home, Purpose, and Community." In 2018, the observance will work to highlight inspiring stories that help thousands of people from all walks of life find the path to hope, health, and wellness on their recovery journey.

A 2008 study published in the American Journal of Psychiatry found that a strong sense of purpose may be the single most significant factor in recovery from psychiatric disorders. This show explores the various ways people can find meaning and purpose in their lives: through higher education and collegiate recovery programs, through work or a vocation, and through volunteer efforts, or, other community roles. Panelists discuss how addiction counselors/ mental health professionals can help people recovering from mental and substance use disorders draw meaning & purpose from their experiences that will help them design new models for daily living that embrace hope.
