06:00 Father's Day History: History of Father's Day
Trace day through life of Rev. Fletcher Golden, the "father who inspired Father's Day." His daughter, Grace Golden Clayton of Fairmont is pictured as the one who suggested this day as a tribute to those killed in Monongah Mine Disaster on Dec. 7, 1907. Two reasons are given for Fairmont not receiving credit for having started Father's Day: events of July 4, 1908 and the late evening death of a young member of the church. The original service was held on July 5, the Sunday closest to Fletcher's birth of July 8th. However, all sites, books, and records list Fairmont as having the first father's day worship, 2 years before anyone else.

11:00 Chamber: Bridges without Boundaries
An all-day conference hosted by 4 regional Chamber of Commerce county of Mon, Marion, Harrison, and Preston occurred on Tuesday, April 25th at Mollohan Conference Center. The conference focused on the issues of infrastructure, transportation and housing. The 4 county chamber leaders interviewed were: Kathy Wagner, Harrison; Tina Shaw, Marion; Chad Prather chair: Morgantown, and Kristy Ash, Preston. Speakers & panelists during the meeting included Chad Biller, Thrasher Engineering, Brian Helmick: Spilman, Thomas & Battle; and State Senator Brooks McCabe; Two speakers on housing and information were Chris Fletcher - Planner, City of Morgantown & John Deskins, Ph. D., Director of the Bureau of Business & Economic Research WVU. Tom Smith, secretary of WV Dept. of Transportation who was formerly with the Appalachian Regional Commission shared the concerns of transportation. The final speaker was Governor Jim Justice.

City Manager displays replica of grant received through Sandra Scaffidi, Director of Planning & Development, for Geographic Information System (GIS) Identifying Historic Resources in the City of Fairmont. Morris Park tennis court will be resurfaced through a grant from the Marion County Parks and Recreation Commission.

DD Meighen presents a PowerPoint that highlights Fairmont and Marion County persons who have contributed to human rights. Another PowerPoint is given for the history of Father's Day that duplicates the first one. Emphasis is also given for a Concert at the Palatine Park on June 18th at 6:00 p.m.
