Her great great niece, Mrs. Toni-Meade Carter shares her thoughts; Nancy Bickerstaff of the Fairmont Women’s Club discusses Mrs. Whitley, Woodlawn Cemetery, and Mrs. Mary Cruz who was a cook for the Flemings. Highlights of the Gathering Event on May 28, 2016 are narrated by Dora Kay Grubb, president of the Marion County Historical Society. Speakers include Robin Gomez, City Manager; Christa Pierpont, a direct Pierpont descendant from Charlottesville, Va., Joe Friedl, searching for Mary “Mamie” Augusta Pierpont; Blair Montgomery, who is credited with the naming of Pierpont Community and Technical College; and Professor James Tyler Chadwell, Instructor of Record, WVU; and the Pierpont’s, portrayed by Arthur and Dr. Pamela Dodds. Also prayers were offered by by Rev. Richard Bowyer and DD Meighen. We Three perform music, consisting of Chuck and Dawn McClain and Faith Bowyer.

Highlights of the ordination of Elizabeth Leigh Palmer Hadaway to Christ Episcopal Church on June 4, 2016 includes portions of the ceremony, music by choir and congregation including “I Bind Unto Myself, What Wondrous Love is This, Anthem, and Holy, Holy, Holy.” An interview with Rev. Hadaway occurs both before and after her ordination.

Highlights on the life of William Kendrick include comments by Dr. Guy Stewart, former WVU Journalism Professor, wrote book on Jackson's Mill, Alexandra Day Coffman, Grant Co. 4-H Agent, who wrote an award winning capstone project on Kendrick; Becca Fint Clark 4-H Monongalia County Extension Agent for Youth Development; Hannah Maxwell on being in 4-H. Award is given to Mildred Fizer, and DD Meighen reviews highlights of past shows.

Highlights include discussion of parking costs, fees and penalties, both on street and at the City Garage; the first proposal passed and the 2nd was tabled. In addition, the Collective Bargaining Agreement By & Between United Steel, Paper And Forestry, Rubber, Manufacturing, Energy, Allied Industrial & Service Workers International Union, Local No. 1-02, And The City Effective April 24, 2016, and Ending April 23, 2019 was also tabled. Discussion occurred on appointment issues to various Boards and Agencies. After Executive Session, two names were announced for positions on two Fairmont boards.

Highlights include comments from Stanley Biggus: International Steelworker Representative from Pittsburgh, Pa., Reuben of Lamar Advertisement; Whitney Hatcher, City of Fairmont introducing Sarah Shaffer who developed the City of Fairmont Logo. Comments centered on moving tabled items to vote on them, waste collection with Republic; and concern over parking.

Highlights includes anthem “Living Bread” and two anthems “Be Our Light” and “Shine Like the Sun” with Cecila Ford dancing liturgically. Secretary Judy Kenaston talks about the advent of women in ministry and then one that influenced her, Martha Loyd of Fairmont. A service of reconciliation and repentance is seen as JF Lacria plays the Native Flute, followed by Dr. Jay Parkins leading singing in “May the Circle be Unbroken” and Carol Markstrom performing an original song she wrote and sings - Modoc Uprising. Marion County minister Jim Zinn is seen receiving the Harry Denham Award as Minister of the Year for Evangelism and Andrew Tennant of Pleasant Valley being announced for full ordination. That is followed by Steel Drums of St. Marks doing two selections “Shout to the Lord,” and Shine Jesus Shine.” That is finally concluded with some words to a song called Summons. Next, 2 congregational hymns are sung in the remembrance service for deceased clergy and spouses as pictures of persons are posted. “I Sing a Song of the Saints of God” features pictures of: My grandfather and mother; father in law, Miller Gwinn from Mt. Hope; Father Jude; Grandmother and mother; Police Chief James Hunter and window; Dr. Earl Core and plaque; Teepi Kendrick and 4-H book; Tom Bennett, Fred Craddock, Tom Koon, Bill Barth, Patty Looman, Rev. Siobhán Patterson, WVWC, and Communion image. “Rejoice in God’s Saints” features pictures of Audrey Stewart, Grace Golden Clayton, Pauline Wright, Deacon Duvall, Jack Squires, Father Jude, Franklin Beaird, Julia Bonafield, Deacon Duvall, Dr. Earl Core, Tom Bennett, Joe Perry and closing prayer by Vance Ross, who served at Trinity and Benton’s Ferry

America’s families are as diverse as America itself. The Supreme Court has ruled that the Constitution guarantees the right to same-sex marriage and benefits to these couples in all states has highlighted family issues for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community. LGBT individuals and families are culturally diverse, with 4.6 percent of African Americans, 4.0 percent of Hispanics/Latinos, 4.3 percent of Asians, and 3.2 percent of Whites identifying as LGBT in a 2012 Gallup poll. This show will focus on the experiences of LGBT individuals in general with some consideration to ethnic and racial communities, and the impact of acceptance or conflict about sexual orientation and gender identity on behavioral health. Panelists will discuss behavioral health disparities within the LGBT community, and will examine the impact of the Affordable Care Act in the provision of behavioral health services for this community. Panelists will also discuss the treatment and recovery needs of LGBT individuals. The show will highlight SAMHSA’s efforts and culturally competent resources that support members of the LGBT community as they work to improve their health and wellness, live self-directed lives, and strive to reach their full potential.
