The full length feature film features the story of 11 African-American soldiers murdered in World War II in Wereth, Belgium. The film is part of the Aubrey Stewart Project, one of the 11 men from Piedmont, WV. This is the first time this film will be shown on TV, compliments of Joe Small, executive producer. First done in the 1970’s by Fran Perry, whose father Joe started the Mission, this film is very significant as it shows the early history of Fairmont and the development of the Mission as it served the disadvantaged in the area. This is the best amateur produced video ever run on TV19.

This program was presented on Feb. 26, 2009 at Fleming Memorial Presbyterian Church and first aired in April 2009. Charlotte Meade reads an account of Colonel George "Spanky" Roberts from Geraldine Belmear. Charlotte then discusses how the naming of the bridge came to be. She also sings the song "The Bridge" she wrote for the dedication on June 3, 1999; Rev. Richard Bowyer discusses Rose Cousins, the first female pilot in West Virginia; Joan Lacey shared the influence of the Tuskegee airmen upon her brother, and Jan Brown Harris will share how her 5th graders benefited from visits by Tuskegee Airmen to her classroom in Washington D.C.

Originally aired in December of 2009 the song by John McCutcheon portrays the destruction of the city of Sarajevo. I show the State Street area due to the Gateway Connector construction and some of the downtown and surrounding area through the song. The music also shows the wonderful bass playing of Fairmont musician Aaron Clay, who along with Peter Wilson, was awarded the Fairmont Arts and Humanities highest honor in 2009.

This poem was written first in 1984 and has been readapted based on circumstances and the changing situations of each year. In 2012 it attempts to reflect the reaction of the city to Jesus coming here.

First Reading were set for Public Hearing on The Acquisition and Construction and cost Of Additions, Betterments and Improvements to the Existing Public Waterworks System of the City of Fairmont And The Amending of The 2005 Comprehensive Plan For The City Of Fairmont, to Include The Parks And Recreation Master. The motion to amend And Supplement Part Three Traffic Code, Chapter Five Vehicular Operation, Article 349 Miscellaneous Rules, Section 12 Squealing Tires, Cracking Exhaust Noises, To Provide For Certain Restrictions and Limitations on the Use of Motor Vehicle Engine and Compression Brakes, Except In The Case Of an Emergency or to Avoid Personal Injury or Property Damage was tabled. A Resolution was passed authorizing The Filing Of An Application With The WV Dept. Of Transportation for $400,000.00 To Design And Install Lighting And Landscaping And To Reface The Retaining Wall At The Merchant Street Parking Lot And Palatine Park Area.



8:17  WERETH 11 MOVIE  The full length feature film features the story of 11 African-American soldiers murdered in World War II in Wereth, Belgium. The film is part of the Aubrey Stewart Project, one of the 11 men from Piedmont, WV. This is the first time this film will be shown on TV, compliments of Joe Small, executive producer. 12:30          UNION MISSION HISTORY: Fran Perry First done in the 1970’s by Fran Perry, whose father Joe started the Mission, this film is very significant as it shows the early history of Fairmont and the development of the Mission as it served the disadvantaged in the area. This is the best amateur produced video ever run on TV19.

City Council also adopted An Ordinance Of The Council For The City Of Fairmont Providing For The Conveyance Of That Certain Parcel Of Real Estate Owned By The City Of Fairmont To Angela D. Turner. A  Second Reading was given authorizing The Acquisition And Construction Of Additions, Betterments And Improvements To The Existing Public Waterworks System Of The City Of Fairmont And The Financing Of The Cost, Not Otherwise Provided, Thereof Through The Issuance By The City Of Fairmont Of Not More Than $4,780,000 In Aggregate Principal Amount Of Water Revenue Bonds.   2:07          TUSKEGEE AIRMEN          This program was presented on Feb. 26, 2009 at Fleming Memorial Presbyterian Church and first aired in April 2009. Charlotte Meade reads an account of Colonel George "Spanky" Roberts from Geraldine Belmear. Charlotte then discusses how the naming of the bridge came to be. She also sings the song "The Bridge" she wrote for the dedication on June 3, 1999; Rev. Richard Bowyer discusses Rose Cousins, the first female pilot in West Virginia; Joan Lacey shared the influence of the Tuskegee airmen upon her brother, and Jan Brown Harris will share how her 5th graders benefited from visits by Tuskegee Airmen to her classroom in Washington D.C.



  2:42           STREETS OF SARAJEVO  Originally aired in December of 2009 the song by John McCutcheon portrays the destruction of the city of Sarajevo. I show the State Street area due to the Gateway Connector construction and some of the downtown and surrounding area through the song. The music also shows the wonderful bass playing of Fairmont musician Aaron Clay, who along with Peter Wilson, was awarded the Fairmont Arts and Humanities highest honor in 2009.



   2:46         D.D. intro to Colonel Roberts & Tuskegee An introduction to the history and legacy of Colonel George “Spanky” Roberts and the Tuskegee airmen is presented, including footage from Wells Fargo and comments by Dr. Hazo Carter of WV State Univ.



  3:00          EDITH ROBERTS AT FSC Program was originally aired in Feb. 2009. The history of Colonel “Spanky” Roberts as one of the original Flying Tuskegee Airmen will be presented as a prelude to his widow, Mrs. Edith Roberts, speaking at  the Fairmont State Festival of Ideas Sept. 8, 2008.



 3:46           COUNTY COMMISSION: 01/25/2012 Highlights include the County Clerk Janice Cosco submitting a letter recommending Yolanda Napple as the Democrat Emergency Ballot Commissioner and Melvin Ringer as the Republican Emergency Ballot Commissioner for the Primary and General Election for 2012 and also submitting an Order for the County’s Emergency Absentee Voting Policy for the 2012 Primary and General Election. A Resolution passed in Support of and Upgrade to the White Hall/South Fairmont Interchange and related upgrades to Route 250. There was a request from Little Laurel Improvement Association for a grant for replacement of pump(s) and a request from Marion County Police Reserves for funds to help with Liability Insurance.



 4:04           COUNTY COMMISSION    02/08/2012  Brief highlights include receiving bids for the Skylight Courthouse Project, enhancement grant for Mannington Rail Trail, redistricting consideration, request from Disability Action Center, a public hearing to adjust various precincts throughout Marion County, and student Kelly Horton, Fairmont Senior attempting to start a scholarship fund for Brogan Raddish



 4:42           COUNTY COMMISSION    02/01/2012 Highlights included appointment of Guy Ward to the Marion County Development Authority, Marion County Planning Commission and Region VI Planning and Development Board, to replace the late Wayne Stutler, recommendation from the GIS Committee to award the Aerial Photography contract to GRW, and a request for funds from Ministers Run Water Association by Lily Parker, President. Rita McCrobie, Attorney General McGraw’s Field Representative, introduced herself.



  5:07          COUNTY COMMISSION: 02/15/2012 Highlights included a resolution to apply for WV Community Participation Program Funds for Prickett’s Fort Memorial Foundation, request for Reimbursement from WV Division of Justice and Community Services, from Barbara Core, Circuit Clerk, for temporary full time status of Kendra Campbell, and the Valley Volunteer Fire Department for donation toward the purchase of complete Genesis System (jaws of life) by Chief Donald Rundle.  Other action included advertisement of open seat on Marion County Planning Commission and an invitation from Chaplain James Riggs for a conference for community welcoming veterans back from combat on March 19th and 20th.
