Despair to Hope was the theme of the Marion County NAACP Marion County’s
Birthday Celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Service of January 15, 2012
in Fairmont. Umojah Voices of Joy sang numerous songs. Those participating in
the service were Pastor Robert Clay, Wesley Dobbs, Tony Jones, and John
McKenney. Others participating were Deacon John Murray, Harold Barner, and Mrs.
Priscilla Steed. Young Man Roe Jones gave a stirring song selection, and
various youth presented biographical material from famous African-Americans.
Dr. Arlene Dooley introduced her sister, Attorney Katherine “Kitty” Dooley, as
the Keynote speaker. The conclusion is “We Shall Overcome.”
