George Rodel recommended a noise ordinance to curtail loud car stereos blaring on 4th St. and Locust Ave. Grants presented to FDCP and Palatine Parks Commission. 2nd Hearing of 8 million bond proposal passed.

A basketball clinic held at Fairmont East High School by members of staff and basketball team was captured in the aftermath of signing autographs and getting interviews. Players such as D'Shaun Butler and Welling Smith along with assistant coach Brown were interviewed.

A 2 day working vacation resulted in this short 8 minute video, produced with an inexpensive computer digital program called Pinnacle.

This City Council was broadcast live over the web. Tabled was action to sale surplus property over Ebay. City Manager Jay Rogers announced that police chief Mark Hayes will be retiring in December after 28 years with the department. In announcements Council member Robert Sapp questioned why the City turned off the Water Fountain during celebrations of Fairmont. Also, Council members scheduled a public hearing from Sept. 8 to approve the next step of the nearly $10 million project necessary to fix the city's faulty water treatment plant once and for all. A final decision by Oct. 2 will be made concerning a proposed rate increase the PSD will make to the city. James Davis of South Park Drive expressed much concern about parkign near Fairmont Senior High School, its health and safety to all and the manner the situation was handled.

Commissioners approved a bid from Bridgeport-based Dodd General Contractors for a little more than $32,200 to complete the paving project. Bids for a jailhouse roof was tabled till more information can be obtained. Various appointments were made. Also, there was Updating Purchasing Manual to include a Resident Vendor Preference Clause (Section (d)) to comply with Federal and State Guidelines or when State or Federal funds are involved in project.

John McCutcheon appeared at Prickett’s Fort on August , 2009. He was gracious enough to grant an interview with me the following day at the Holiday Inn. He also gave me permission to air his music. It is hopeful you, the viewer, will like his music so much as to purchase his albums or download his tunes from various sites. He sings two wonderful songs, “There’s Room at the Top of the Stairs,” in which he describes the empty room where his child grew up in and all the memories attached there. In the second song, “I Am Here,” he sings the song he wrote for the Copperstown Baseball Hall of Fame describing how all of us are part of the Hall of Fame. He also describes his journeys to WV, his introduction to folk music, the influence of many people, and the radical nature of Christianity which has been overlooked.

Randy Elliott was reappointed to the health board by a 2-1 vote with Commissioner Wayne Stutler voting against it with reasons given by both sides. The difficulty of funding county requests came into question over Rivesville’s desire to have tables purchased, Farmington to have asphalt funding, and the Mannington 4-H Club for funding to purchase metal roofing and log-style siding for a cabin, in the amount of $3,592.66 from the County Commission. County Attorney Charles Shields shared reasons why he felt it inappropriate to fund these requests. There was recognition of employees who moved record books, particularly Rob Holmes and Mark Campbell. Randy Elliott discussed Black Friday, a proposal by many groups to use the Election Center as a distribution point for giving out needed items to children on the day following Thanksgiving.

David Sago then speoke on the conditions of the Water Lines, etc. of the City of Fairmont. Also, Resolutions concerning the FCDP and the Fairmont Parks Commission for funding to continue improvements at palatine Park. Appointments were made.
