Tunes include Soldier's Joy, Cold Frosty Morn, Little Brown Jug, and Sweet Sixteen. Author Robert Thompson, "A Woman of Courage on the West Virginia Frontier: Phebe Tucker Cunningham," is interviewed. This was his great great- great-great-great-grandmother who was married at Pricketts Fort in 1780 and later captured by the Wyandot tribe, living with them 3 years.

Highlights included updating rules for placing signs within the city limits while establishing penalties and sign permit fees, condolences expressed to the Fairmont Community Development Partnership and executive director Bob Gribben for the fire of April 16 that damaged the McCoy Building, expressed joy at the turnout and reception of Fairmont 101 class, endorsed the Railroad Earth Concert sponsored by Deep Roots Productions, which will be held at Palatine Park on Friday, June 14, approved 2 WV CPG, and appointed Tom DeVito to the Fairmont Water Board .

Highlights included approving the merger of Precinct 67 into Precinct 68 in Mannington. They also approved a resolution to apply for WV Community Participation Programs funds of $8,500 for outdoor security for the Disability Action Center, up to $15,000 for HOPE Inc. to renovate the former Army Reserve Center into a domestic violence shelter, and heard from Marion County Public Library Friends, who thanked the commission for its donation of the "Cave," the downstairs room at the library where books sales will be held.

Highlights included Marion County Assessor Jim Priester concern about the cost and operation of the present computer system. Issue revolves around yearly charges of SoftWare Company versus local Global Science and Technology. SWS charges an annual fee of $24,000, while GST charges $15,000.  Commission signed a proclamation declaring May 1, 2013, in honor of EMT Glen Satterfield and gave $1,000 to the Historic Woodlawn Cemetery as local match to be used for grant applications

Highlights included Mannington undoing uniting of precincts 67 and 68, supporting a resolution and support statement for "Fairness at Patriot Coal." Nick Lonetti, international representative for Region I, UMWA, spoke for the resolution. The commission also funded Dora Kay Grubb's request to assist the county's celebration of the 150th birthday of West Virginia on June 20. They also granted $1,500 to the 25th annual Project Graduation, set for May 31 at Valley Worlds of Fun. The yearly event has already raised $1,000. Susan King and Roberta Steele represented Project Graduation. Rental of the recreational facility is $3,000.

Highlights from the induction of Senator Joe Manchin into the order of the Tall Pines are from Village Square Conference Center in Clarksburg on April 28th. They include remarks from Louis Spatafore, President of the Calabria- WV Italian Heritage Association, and Michael Oliverio, Vice President of the Calabria-WV Italian Heritage Association. The masterful Master of Ceremonies was WV State Senator Roman Prezioso as he attempted to maintain time control over all the speakers. You will see the posting of the guard by the Robert C. Byrd Color Guard Team, the invocation by Father C, and Special music by Anthony Errigo, Lindsey Lowe and Benjamin DeFazio. Then, Dr. Maria Rose, President of FSU will give a historical overview of the collaboration, and comments by Dr. Francois X. Nicoletti on his visions. That will be followed by special talks on the Manchin family. Speakers include Dr. John Manchin, the Honorable Michael Aloi, George Levitsky, Delegate Tim Manchin, Mark Anthony Manchin, and Joe Manchin IV. Then the special induction to the order of La Sila will be presented and Senator Manchin will conclude with remarks. Finally, Michael Belmear invited donations while thanking everyone for attending, and Lindsay Menas concluded some statements as an exchange student. But the noise level presented us from including their comments.
