Traditional 3 Rivers Parade is covered from the corner of South Side Bridge. Opening Events from Palatine Park is shared, including the introduction of the Festival Court, the WVU Football Players, and opening music by Davisson Brothers.
8:00 am - Friday 3 Rivers: at Park & “Razzle”
Friday afternoon at the Park is enjoyed among the crowd and activities offered. Tonya and Jack Daft portray a Southern Civil War family in southern Virginia; Kids Day in Park is shared by NASA; New Mystics Theatre’s Jeremy Madia and Maggie Ludwig share a dialogue in singing and speech on prejudice; portions of Pepperoni Bake Off Contest is shown. In the evening, the singing 80’s and 90’s singing group, Reflex, presents some of their music.

City Council approved the first reading on two property transac¬tions with MRDC that will secure the last bits of property for the State Building project. The MRDC has worked out a deal in which the city would sell its current Public Works building on Meadowlane Avenue to the MRDC for $145,000, which would then transfer the property to Vangilder, owner of V&W Electric to expand his operations. He also wants the city’s former landfill nearby. Historical Society presented plaque accepted by DD Meighen. Final revision of 2011 budget approved. Dan Madigan spoke. After much debate, Council approved paying funds to state to assist in cleaning the Connector, despite concern over debris and ultimate responsibility for the cleanup and maintenance of the connector.

Highlights of this evening at Westchester Village include interviews before dinner with Bob Huggins on purpose of evening for the Norma Mae Huggins Cancer Fund and WVU Basketball; Teammate & Roommate Warren Baker; Coach Joe Retton, followed by Some Auction. Jimmy Sears shares Marion County Athletes of Note and Invocation by D.D. Meighen. Sears auctions off autographed basketball and acknowledgments of Supporters for the evening event. Speakers are Joe Mazzulla, former referee and Fairmonter Stanley Rote, Coach Joe Lambiotte, Coach Joe Retton and Bob Huggins. Jimmy Sears announces that more than $38,000 will be given to the Norma Mae Huggins Cancer Fund
