 7:00     PLAQUE DEDICATION & COMMENTS
A plaque commemorating the 60th Anniversary of the first Black-White Football game in WV is presented by Tyson Furgason, principal of Fairmont Senior High School, to 1954 football players Stanley Beafore and Skip Delligatti and to Charlotte Meade, representing Dunbar players, cheerleaders and alumni on Sept. 30, 2014. Comments are then given following the installation of the plaque by Don Haught, Maintenance Custodian at East West Stadium; Frank Moore, Athletic Director: Marion County Board of Education; Chad Norman, former principal of West Fairmont who oversaw the creation of the plaque; Andy Neptune: Administrative Assistant in charge of Human Resources at MCBE; Gary Price: Marion County School Superintendent; and Michael Belmear whose Father, Horace "Happy" Belmear, was Dunbar Coach.

Highlights of the first WV Coal Miner's Appreciation Day Swap Meet Dec. 6, 2013 includes interviews with Matthew Kline (Singer, author, and activist); Carol Thorn, President Everettville Historical Association on April 30, 1927 explosion that killed 111; Danielle Petrak: Curator: Royce Watts WVU Museum; Trudy Lemley on Carolina Mine and her book "Life in a Northern WV Coal Mine Town;" Raven Thomas, AmeriCorp Vista worker with the Marion Co. Historical Society; and Colin Gatland, co-founder of Eastern Mining Collectors Association (EMCA). This year's program will be Dec. 6, 2014 at the Knights of Columbus

 9:08     MISSION WV GIVING BACK WITH HEART:
This Oct. 9, 2014 highlighted include interviews with Jim Rubinstein, West Virginia Division of Corrections Commissioner who also serves as Deputy Secretary for the Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety; Kelly Thompson, Associate Director of Mission WV, and Carrie Dawson, Public Relations Director for MWV. This art auction and fund raiser raised money for scholarships of children in foster care and for children of incarcerated parents. All the crafts, drawings, and sculptures were done by the inmates at Mt. Olive Prison. Prison numbers have increased: 1990 - 1,550 inmates; Today - 6,780 inmates

Highlights of his life include a visit to Oce Smith's office on Jan. 27, 2012 while he discusses his career and welcomes then Governor Joe Manchin; his day at the Legislature on March 6, 2012 when he is made Sergeant-at-Arms Emeritus; discussing the history of the Barrackville Covered Bridge on March 24, 2017 at the History Expo; talking about the 1954 Dunbar-West Fairmont football game in 2010 at his home on Coleman Ave.; Delegates Mike Caputo, Linda Longstreth, and Tim Manchin share memories of Oce; and finally, his personal secretary of 14 years, Robin Stultz, recalls some favorite moments

10:30     DANCING WITH THE STARS:
Dancing with the stars features dances Chad Fowler and Christine Lavorta, Jim Chadwell and Marlena Mazza, Rob Linger and Nikka Bowman, Matt Delligatti and Peggy Coster, Todd Anderson and Holly Kauffman. Last year the event raised $23,000 that was split between the United Way and the Marion County Chamber of Commerce. Robert Mild of the Fairmont State faculty and Gretchen Ross from WBOY will be hosts. Judges were Dr. Rosemary Thomas, Alan B. Mollohan, and Brian Faulkner. The choreographers were Eileen and Arthur Frank, Natalia Krimmel, Jackie Hammond, Olivia Bowen, and Teresa Sestito.Event was held Oct. 11.

Highlights included home rule discussion by City Manager Jay Rogers and various council members as they await a decision by the Home Rule Board on Fairmont becoming one of additional towns to be approved, which would mean they could give a 1 percent sales and service tax, reduce B&O taxes for retail & eliminate wholesale and manufacturing tax. The plan also includes tax credits to occupying a previously vacant building, restoring historic structures and offering a longevity credit to existing businesses as they meet milestones. Daniel Kuneff spoke about run off storm water in the 600 block of Maryland Ave. Rosemary Herren added problems with engineering problems at EFMS affecting situation as well. A motion to approved alleyway between Hampton Road and Celia St. was tabled after Tim Haddix and Chelse Shine spoke against it. Anthony Horton spoke on homeless person in Jackson Addition area. In Council Action The City Of Fairmont approved the transaction Between The Fairmont Building Commission And The West Virginia Economic Development Authority to convey Fairmont General Hospital, Together With Certain Personal Property Used For Hospital Purposes To Alecto Healthcare Services Of Fairmont, LLC, And Further Authorizing The City Manager To Execute And Deliver That Certain Business And Occupation Tax Agreement By And Between The City Of Fairmont And Alecto Healthcare Services Of Fairmont, LLC.

Highlights include comments by Kate Greene on Main St. Fairmont. Belinda Biafore, with the Marion County Development Office, told commissioners she met with the DNR about the public boat ramp and docks in Fairmont along the Monongahela River and received favorable encouragement.

 1:29     COUNTY COMMISSION:     09/03/14
Highlights include numerous awards given: (1) to Marion County 911 telecommunitcator Jim Cox by to Marion County Rescue Squad chief administrator Michael Angelucci for speaking on the phone with a woman who gave birth to a baby boy; (2) Fairmont City Police Chief Kelley Moran presented awards to Janet Miller, who described a car fleeing a July bank robbery and to Marion County Lt. Shawn Teets for coordinating law enforcement in catching the bank robbery suspect; and to WV State Police Cpl. John McDougal for apprehending the bank robbery suspect; (3) WVSP Sgt. G. S. Petsko presented an award to Marion County 911 shift captain Angie Clutter for her efforts during the rescue of three Marion Co. residents; (4) Mike Lane gave praise & awards to Wave Pool lifeguards Jake Layman and Lindsey Turner for saving him from back spasm while swimming with his son. Marion County Development Authority director Charlie Reese and County Commissioner Ernie VanGilder spoke about the City of Fairmont's home rule proposal

Highlights include special proclamation for Norman Kronjaeger with many of the County Commissioners attending the event; giving of $200,000 by Equitran for pipeline expansion through Curtisville; approval of Homeland Security to be an approved IPSAS site to issue emergency alerts through modern media and technology, which also involved the giving of free weather radios to each Marion County Schools accepted by Gary Price; and the report of Charlie Reese, economic developer for the County. He shared the approval of an additional $400,000 for Tulip Lane, possibility of a 2 day trial run of an iceless skate rink by Dion Enterprises, acquiring of additional funds for Korean Memorial from White Hall, and possibilities of Amphitheatre improvement

Highlights include revision of budget for coal severance; reappointment of Randy Elliot to Health Dept., letter read on behalf of the Humane Society, Charles shields spoke on Constitution Day at Fairmont State; Charles Reese reported on upgrades at the Park and can do the improvements on amphitheater. Jennifer Beech, advertisement executive from Times, presented Award for Palatine Park being first place in Marion County Recreational Places and best community attraction, and Chris McIntire announced that 99.5 FM is on line for weather and emergency situations.

Highlights include no pa system so sound is recorded from attached microphone. Parking fees for State Vehicles not taken off the table, final approval of merger, and grant to put roof on old Fire Department for $47,000 approved.

Highlights include request for Feast of Festival Event, Charlie Reese report on getting work completed on amphitheater, and Lloyd White presenting a detailed report on the Marion County Health Department.

 4:20     COUNTY COMMISSION:     10/15/14
Highlights includes a gift of $15,000 from the County Delegates for fencing around the Splash Park, a moment of silence for Oce Smith, a report on Ebola and infectious diseases from Lloyd White of the Marion County Health Department, a report on recent disaster in Marion County when fiber line was snapped by a large tree disrupting communications in the western Marion County Area. DD Meighen presented a request for money for Electronic Salvage on Oct. 25th.

 4:55     CITY COUNCIL:     10/14/14
Highlights includes citizens petition on concern of road condition surrounding East Side's Subway Store by Willard Ferrell; Disputing an abandoned Road recommendation by Fairmont Planning Commission by Steve Shine and Tim Haddix; and words from Laura Kronjaeger Baker. After extensive comments the abandoned road recommendation was not passed. City manager reported on paving and quarterly revenue before invoices. The PA has been broken at the Pubic Health Safety Building the past month and half and so sound is not recording well.

Highlights includes the traditional Episcopal Worship for evening at the Christ Episcopal Church in Fairmont with Rev. Dr. John Kevern. Music provided by the Fairmont State Choir under the direction of Dr. Sam Spears and members of the church. John Morrison accompanies the choir and congregation on the organ
