Highlights included the main address by Mike Sarrao, executive vice president for Alecto Healthcare Services, at the Marion County Chamber of Commerce's 61st annual dinner and the recognition of businesses, people, and companies for special services and community contributions.    Recognized were Aaron Hawkins and Butch Phillips, who planned and coordinated the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., Ace Hardware for Retailer of the Year; Frank Pulice Jr. for his work with the Fairmont General Hospital Foundation; Resolute Forest Products for local hiring and safety record; Kate Green of Main Street Fairmont for visioning; Jim Estep for leadership; Lou Spatafore, president of Friendly Furniture Galleries Inc. for lifetime achievement; Heston Farm Winery and Pinchgut Hollow Distillery was chosen as Marion County's Small Business of the Year; Mary Jo Thomas was the recipient of the Women's Achievement award; and students L aura Laratta, a graduate of East Fairmont High School received the Donal Jack Squires Award; Kailee Latocha, a graduate of North Marion High School, received the Seth Burton Memorial Foundation Scholarship and Amanda Bennett, an EFHS graduate, could not attend the dinner but was honored with the MCCC Youth Leadership Scholarship.

The breakfast to honor athletes from the 1954 football game was held Oct. 30, 2010. WVU Dean Dana Brooks spoke on Sports Integration in WV. Rev. Buckner began with the history of events that led to this weekend. D.D. concludes. (2) Certificates are given and words are shared by Delegates Mike Caputo and Tim Manchin; (3) Senator Roman Prezioso shares the importance of this day as he recalls his days at Monongah High School with Kerry Marbury and Nick Saban; (4) more certificates are given and people acknowledged for their efforts: Carol Amos, Oce Smith, John Veasey, Houston Richardson, & football players attending, (5) Dr. Dana Brooks, Dean of Physical Education of WVU, finishes by giving a dynamic Power Point Presentation.
