Highlights include pre celebration activities, including the Morningstar Baptist Youth Mime Group. Comments and guidance of the program was led by President Richard Waldron, 1st Councilor: Clarksburg Stake Presidency; Primary Children singing 'I Belong to the Church and We'll Bring the World His Truth." David Williams traces the History of the Mormon Church in West Virginia and north central WV; Chaplain James Riggs plays organ selection as pictures of the early Ward and members are shown; and Faye Hicks, President of Fairmont ward Relief Society, talks on the "100 Acts of Service." After a Women's Quarter song, Patrick D. Bowen speaks on "100 Years of Latter-Day Saints and Boy Scouts of America Relations." Judd Ashcraft, President of the Mannington branch, closes with prayer.

Highlights include community participation in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints event at their Meadowdale Ward. Highlights included a check for $1,000 to Father Douglas Sutton on behalf of the Gabriel Project of Mannington to support the mission in Marion County to babies, children and mothers, $200 to the Marion County Master Gardeners for its fifth Tomato Festival to be held from noon-4 p.m. Aug. 18 at High Gate Carriage House, $500 to Monongahfest, set for Saturday, Aug. 17, $15,000 for the Marion County Humane Society with the Community Participation Program, and $5,000 for the Dunbar Community Foundation with the Community Participation Program.

It also approved the expansion of the Greater Paw Paw Sanitary District to provide sewerage service to the Monongalia County town of Crown. Ten employees of the Marion County 911 Center were awarded certificates of promotion: Michael Scott McFann and Shawna Leanna Snyder, sergeant; Donna Jean Heckel, Lacy Louise Morgan and Dana Marie Satterfield, lieutenant; and Angie Renee Clutter, Joseph Phillip Masturzo, Shawn David Parker, Sabrina Regina Haught and Lauren Elizabeth Boros, captain.

Highlights include interviews with Leslie Clark, Director of VBS and Youth Director Jason Sleet of First Baptist. Children are seen performing and studying along with Mary Bronson teaching. At First Presbyterian Becky Stivers, teacher of the combined Fleming Memorial and First Presbyterian is interviewed. Rev. Elise Neal, also known as "Miss Molly," is seen in her flamboyant costume and discusses the role of VBS and the week. Amy Starn, VBS Director, is interviewed.

Highlights include the message by Heather Bresch, CEO of Mylan, Inc. and award given for various social, professional or business practices and services: Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home was named Small Business of the Year; Wade Linger was awarded the Education Award, which was accepted by his son, Rob; Joey Madia of Seven Stories Theatre Company received the President's Award. Jesse Corley, 18 years as former mayor of White Hall, was given special recognition. Bob and Shannon Tinnell received the Chairman's Award. And Butch Phillips of East Fairmont Foundation, the United Way Celebration of Lights and other charities was given the Rev. Donal "Jack" Squires Lifetime Achievement Award. Chamber President Tina Shaw presented four Marion County students with scholarships : Jacqueline Costello was awarded the Marion County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Award; Drew Edwards received the Rev. Donal "Jack" Squires Scholarship; Kelly Horton received the Dan Rider Youth Leadership Scholarship; and Jessica Miller was awarded the Seth Burton Memorial Foundation Scholarship.

Highlights include people speaking about parking tickets: Sonja Davis, Matthew Bruce, Justin Sharp, and Ricky Sharp. Also, Anthony Horton spoke on Housing and code enforcement. Council approved a grant submission to the WV Development Office Participation Grant Program on behalf of the Fairmont Parks Commission for improvements to Palatine Park. Council member Bob Gribben made a motion to table appointments and reappointments of individuals to the Historic Preservation Review Commission.

Highlights include WV Community Partnership Grant for Historical Society's AmeriCorp Program. Dora Kay Grubb spoke. Katie Riffle Tournament was approved for support. The giving of $18,000 to all County Volunteer Fire Departments was issued. Accepting the gifts were Frank Loughley of Valley, Jeff Malick of Barrackville, Branch Schrader of Monongah, John Sanders of Farmington, Ryan Cottrell of Worthington, Barry Bledsoe of Bunner's Ridge, Justin Stover of Rivesville, Beth Goodwin of Winfield, John Riley of Grant Town, and Steve Gillespie of Fairview.

Mark Reynolds, Director of Operations for the Paws for People, is interviewed both on campus at Fairmont State and at the Thrift Store at their 309 Cleveland Ave, suite 100 location. 2 of the dog trainers are also interviewed.

Zach Foley and Allan Parrack spoke on Skateboard Park. Jeff Biafore shared his role. Charlie Reese spoke on Riverfront Development. In other action, Amber Perry was hired as Office Manager/Addressing Assistant, salary $25,000.00 w/benefits, Conveyance of Poor Farm property from Marion County Development Authority, and $500 was approved for Back to School event at Windmill Park on August 24, 2013.

Highlights included citizens petitions from Sandy Scaffidi, Marion County Economic Developer Charlie Reese, and Michael Howard. Council adopted an amended Pay Plan and list of occupational classes to provide for the correction and update of certain class titles deletion of antiquated class codes; & establishment of a date for payment of longevity pay. They also approved a study of fire department sub-stations, and approved a variance on property.
